Understanding the Accounting Staff Recruitment Situation in Thailand – Eastern Seaboard Area
If you are going to establish a company in Thailand, you certainly need to encounter the manpower recruitment difficulty especially for professional people like accountants. The Eastern-seaboard area is where many manufacturing companies are located. It covers major provinces such as Rayong and Cholburi. As the location is far from Bangkok, many companies have to struggle to get qualified accountants into these areas. Accounting staff shortage can become a critical problem unless the company has been proactive in the recruitment process.
In fact, many companies can offer attractive salary packages for the candidates. However, the decision made can impact the family life for those married candidates. There are a few ways they can choose such as:
• They may rent a house and stay in the province close to the company. And on every Friday, they will have to drive back to Bangkok to stay with their family. Until Monday, they have to drive directly from their home to the office. We are talking about some 100 – 150 kilometers from Bangkok to Cholburi or Rayong area.
• They may have to move their family to stay close to the company. This choice can solve the travel problems especially when the fuel price is increasing like today. However, they may have to trade-off with their children’s education opportunity. Unlike Bangkok, there are not many schools to be selected for their children.
These are conditions which causes several candidates to turn down attractive offers. For married people, their concerns may be related to the school for their children, the residence that is convenient and safe for their family. Some people decide to stay in Sriracha in Cholburi province. This area has several advantages, for example:
• It is close to working places in several industrial estates such as Amata and Eastern Seaboard.
• If you need to travel to Bangkok from time to time, this is the nearest location where you can drive for one and a half hour on average to get to Sukhumvit area.
• There are big department stores, nice apartments, food garden and restaurants.
• The weather is also good as it is close to the sea and far from petrochemical factories.
How to find qualified accountants to join companies in this area?
Obviously there are many multinational companies that are open for good opportunities to grow. Apart from the attractive employment package, the candidates would be looking for valuable experiences from working with the well established companies. That means companies should consider offering non-financial but promising packages as well. This includes work challenges, training and environment where working with competent colleagues is there.
